Violent robbers sentenced 125 years

In a landmark ruling, three men , Vusumuzi Bhebhe (20), Yasin Joseph(21), and Never Simbakurasha (30) , were sentenced to a combined 125 years in prison for a series of violent robberies in and around Masvingo.

Three robbers have been sentenced to a combined 125 years in prison after being convicted on 18 counts of robbery and other related crimes.

Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura handed down the sentence after the trio, Vusumuzi Bhebhe, Yasin Joseph, and Never Simbakurasha, were found guilty of committing a string of robberies in Masvingo.

The three were arrested in January 2025 and were subsequently charged with 18 counts of robbery, among other crimes.

During the trial, it emerged that the trio would target unsuspecting residents, threatening them with violence and demanding cash and valuables.

In one of the counts, it was alleged that the trio forced a couple to engage in sexual intercourse while they watched.

The prosecution, led by Regional Prosecutor Liberty Hove, presented overwhelming evidence that linked the trio to the crimes.

In passing sentence, Magistrate Bepura condemned the trio’s actions, saying they had caused untold suffering to their victims.
