MUTARE CITY– Rising sungura music artist and veteran Mutare based journalist, Clayton Masekesa, has released a single called Kuzipa Kwerudo that is receiving some favorable reviews from the popular sungura music scene.
The single, which is Masekesa’s second, was released last week and it carries good-natured love lyrics and sublime guitar works that are set to make a significant mark in the sungura music genre.
Kuzipa Kwerudo was recorded at highly fashionable JM Studios in Mutare and produced by immensely gifted Joseph Makiwa who has taken the recording music business by storm.
Makiwa has produced for musicians that include Blessing Shumba among others.
The love track is about someone giving testimony on how sweet and engaging love can be. It is a song where one is expressing the pleasure of a love affair.
The song has magnificent guitar work, punctuated by sweet and unique melodies that will certainly find a perfect place in the hearts of many sungura music lovers.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch this week, Masekesa who fronts the eight-member Eastern Stars Band said he was grateful to the support he was receiving.
“To be honest this single has opened a new chapter in my music. I want to thank everyone for the support that they are giving me. I also want to thank my producer Joseph Makiwa for a job well done. My band members have done quite a good job,” he said.
“My task as a musician is to spread the other side of love. As people we should not always look at the negative side of love but, I am trying to promote that love can also be exciting,” said Masekesa.
“I have observed that many people listen to music and this music reaches everywhere. Many have access to music, it is played everywhere and it is a greatest medium to reach out to people. So, I preach the word of love relationships through song and dance so that it reaches to everyone,” he explained.
The single will soon have a video and will be available at various social media platforms.
Masekesa believes the sky is the limit and will continue to provide impactful and tuneful musical messages.
Together with his group, Masekesa has dedicated to unleash a memorable musical experience.
