-appeals for funding
MILLICENT HUNGWE
MASVINGO-In the heart of the ancient city, a young artist is emerging, one whose talent, passion, and vision promises to touch the very soul of the nation.
Titus Mudzengi (24) from Gutu, now living in Rujeko, embodies a rare spark.

Since childhood, he’s poured his passion into every line he draws and every word he writes.
“I had passion for drawing since I was a kid,” he says, recalling how he began with his childhood colleague, Tatenda Chigowa, sketching a simple car while in primary school.
Today, he is a poet, songwriter, and visual artist who has created eight songs, 15 Shona poems, and more than 25 portraits, each a testament to his spirit.
He has done portraits for the likes of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the late music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, and Minister of State Masvingo for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira.

“My role model is Patrick Makumbe,” he shares.
Patrick Makumbe is a Zimbabwean contemporary artist who lives in Harare, known for his paintings of everyday life in the city. He has exhibited internationally including South Africa, Amsterdam and Germany. He studied BAT Visual Art studios in Zimbabwe.
However, Mudzengi has also faced hardships, as his parents once dissuaded him from pursuing his dream when he was in primary school, urging him to focus on books.

Mudzengi appeals for funding to acquire pencils, paper, brushes, a small space for his creative work, and an audience to listen to his music.
He is married and savors sadza and mazondo, and he hopes one day that his voice will join the chorus of Masvingo’s bright future.
Mudzengi calls upon the business community and well wishers to come to his rescue in order for him to realise his dream.
