In the Gospel of Matthew (4:1-11), we find Jesus retreating to the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights, fasting and praying alone. It was during this time of solitude that Jesus faced temptation and emerged stronger, ready to begin his ministry.

Matthew 4:1-2: “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.”

Matthew 4:10-11: “Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.”
