CHIPINGE-A MOZAMBIQAN who was cohabiting with his Zimbabwean sweetheart was allegedly murdered by three man as he enjoyed beer with his lover at a local homestead.
The three men accused the foreign tourist of being a thief who would steal from Zimbabwe pretending to be seeing his lover and cross with the loot to neighbouring Mozambique.
According to Manicaland Province police acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that Simon Masango Chimudanda (30) a Mozambiqan national was in love with Monica Chiusavi (25) from of Mahachi Village in Chipinge.
The lovebirds went for a beer drink at Chisiya homestead in Mahachi Village at around 7pm on March 8.
As they enjoyed the wise waters, the three suspects, Clever Mlambo (33), Excebia Kotomani and William Kotomani approached Simon accusing him of stealing from the community and they wanted to recover their stolen goods from him.
The three started dragging him away to go and show them where he had hidden the stolen goods and when the girlfriend tried to intervene she was threatened and told to let them carry out their mission unhindered.
Another villager, Alex Mureya intervened and was hit with an unidentified object and left for dead.
The three suspects took Simon away and his body was found the following morning by Privilege Mutopeya along a foot path near her crop field as she was going to cultivate her crops at around 9am the following day.
The matter was reported to Chisumbanje Police who attended to the scene and discovered that the deceased had injuries all over the body and there were struggle marks and blood around while his trousers were soiled.
Mlambo was arrested but the other two suspects are at large and investigations are going on.
Chinyoka appealed to members of the public to help with information that may lead to the arrest of the two who are wanted in connection with the murder case.
