MASVINGO –Sugar making giant, Triangle Ltd’s corporate and industry affairs department has released a statement clearing the air on a fire that broke at its factory on Saturday last week.
A 2MVA transformer caught fire last week Saturday(18 November, 2023) at around 1.30pm at the factory, a statement in the possession of The Midweek Watch confimrs.
“The fire was localized to the area housing the transformers with no material damage to the rest of the factory as the fire was successfully contained and doused within 20minutes.
“No one was injured during the incident and electricity was successfully restored to the Mill later that evening with normal operations resuming on one line and with the other expected to be operational once the replacement transformer which was in stock is installed” read the statement.
They went on to say that technical investigations are currently underway to ascertain the cause of the transformer malfunction that resulted in the unfortunate incident.
Triangle Ltf also assured all stakeholders that the industry has adequate sugar stocks to meet both domestic and export market commitments.
