MIDWEEK REPORTER
CHIPINGE-Eurea Porai Chirigo (21) will live to regret the day she left her matrimonial home as her son was bludgeoned to death by his biological brother who was forcing her to return to her husband.

Kufakwevantu Chirigo (37) of Mbeure Village under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge has been arrested for allegedly killing his sister’s one and half year old son, Advise Mlambo by a machete as he was driving her away from the family homestead.

Manicaland Province police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that on September 14 at around 7pm Kufakwevantu returned home from a drinking spree and started chasing his sister with a machete ordering her to go back to her matrimonial home.

As he was chasing her she had her baby strapped at the back and when he was striking her with the machete she tried to parry it and it hit the baby.

He continued to hit her with the machete but she continued to parry it with her bare hands.

She cried for help and neighbours restrained the drunk brother and she went to Mbeure Clinic unfortunately it was closed and she returned home without getting treated.

Upon getting home she realised that her baby was not breathing.

A report was made at ZRP Chibuwe and the accused was arrested the following day in the same village after having left home the previous day upon realizing the gravity of his crime.
