Thousands attend Agric4she field day in Buhera

BUHERA – Thousands of people from across Manicaland Province on Tuesday gathered at Taranhike homestead, Mukoto Village in Ward 31, Buhera for the Agriculture for she (Agric4she) field day.
The event was graced by the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa where farmers won various prizes with the host farmer Christine Taranhike winning a scotch cart, seeds and fertilizers.
Speaking during the event, the First Lady urged women who are not yet into Agric4she and presidential input scheme to join the programs and avoid sitting at home doing nothing.
“I urge all the women here to join the programs. Do not just sit at home waiting for your husbands to provide for the family. As women we are also important, we have the responsibility to work for our families,” she said.
The First Lady urged the host farmer Taranhike to spearhead farming in the area, not only at her homestead, but to other women in the area and said that keeping women busy can reduce domestic violence in homes and also dependency on men.
She praised the farming activities at Taranhike’s homestead which include crop farming, livestock keeping and horticulture.
Agric4she was launched in November 2022 by the First Lady as a way of empowering women through various agricultural activities such as crop farming, fisheries, horticulture and livestock rearing.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs ad Devolution, Nokuthula Matsikenyere also graced the occasion and said the program will assist women empowerment and improve agriculture and eradicate hunger in the province.
