MASVINGO –, Douglas Machingauta aka Sensei Douglas is making significant strides in the rehabilitation of stroke patients at the NRZ loading bays opposite Raylton Bar premises, providing hope and healing to those grappling with non-communicable conditions.

Currently, Sensei Machingauta is training four patients who have faced various challenges due to stroke-related issues.

Jefite Biri (57) from Mucheke A, Moses Musevenzo (38) from Rujeko C, Patience Chedhume, and Blessings Msindo (51).

The impact of Machingauta’s personalized rehabilitation program is evident, with patients reporting significant improvements in their mobility and overall well-being.

Biri, who suffered a debilitating stroke in 2010 and had been unable to walk for three years, is experiencing a remarkable recovery.

“I had no balance and felt a huge weight on my leg, but now I can walk thanks to his simple exercises, which help me to heal if followed religiously,” he shared, reflecting his newfound hope and independence.

Musevenzo, who has battled bilateral paralysis since 2019, has also shown tremendous progress.

“Machingauta trains very well,” he said, expressing optimism for a full recovery by December, which would enable him to return to his job as a truck driver.

The support from family and friends has also played a crucial role in the patients’ journey to recovery. Farai Chekenyere, who regularly accompanies Chedhume to the training sessions, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Machingauta’s selfless dedication.

“I’m happy that Machingauta is doing this as a community service instead, he finds joy in his patients’ recovery,” Chekenyere noted, highlighting Machingauta’s genuine commitment to his work.

Chekenyere recalled the success story of Mahachi, a teacher from Kyle who overcame severe mobility issues through Machingauta’s regimen.

“I hope Chedhume will experience similar progress,” he added.

Msindo, another patient, shared an inspiring message about resilience.

“I’ve seen a miracle in my life, and everyone should prioritize exercise to maintain physical fitness. If someone suffers a stroke, don’t lose hope. Believe in God, who is in charge,” he said while, reinforcing the importance of faith and determination in the healing process.

All four patients heaped praise on Machingauta’s expertise and dedication, and he continues to encourage anyone with similar conditions to reach out for help.

With his passion for rehabilitation and a heart for service, Sir Doug is making a difference in the lives of stroke survivors in Masvingo.
