BUSINESS REPORTER
MASVINGO CITY-New kid on the block in the cut throat energy industry has brought relief to customers as they can pay for fuel through Ecocash, Visa and Zimswitch cards.
Express Energy which is located in the CBD along Simon Muzenda Street formerly Hofmeyer Street allows its customers to pay through Ecocash, Visa and Zimswitch cards reducing the burden of carrying cash and becoming the first one in the ancient city to offer such payment methods.
“This is a game changer for our beautiful city, the burden of carrying cash is reduced, considering that sometimes change is a headache especially for the USD, we have had cases where bank notes are tone and businesses are rejecting tone notes, but if you have your Ecocash or swipe card you have no worries about that. We are excited with Energy Express as they are moving with the times,” said Amos Chimhanda of Mucheke D.
“For the convenience of our customers, some of them who will be passing through going to neighbouring countries, we have decided to be flexible and we now accept Ecocash, Visa and all swipe cards.
“No change blues, no need to worry about tone bank notes as one just swipe for gas, petrol, diesel and oil.
“We also offer extras like window cleaning, oil checking and pressure will be available very soon.
“Our team of attendants are very professional and on the pulse and always ready to serve you, we have both female and male attendants because we are gender sensitive,” said Express Energy director Julius Marambire.
There is also a convenience shop at the service station which offers a variety of foods, icecubes and other items that one may need for emergencies on the road.
Audrey Chinaka an A1 farmer on the outskirts of Masvingo who is into horticulture and has diesel powered pump for irrigation said she no longer carries cash to buy fuel for her farming business.
“I don’t need to carry cash for my bulk diesel as I will just swipe or pay through Ecocash at Express Energy, the move has brought a lot of convenience for some of us who buy fuel in bulk, the risk of cash being stolen has been eliminated,” said Chinaka.
Unlike other major urban settlements in the country, Masvingo City has been lagging behind in offering convenient payment methods for fuel as only cash has been the only method used to buy fuel.
