SJI 2025-31 leadership team announced

The congregation of the Sisters of the Child Jesus (SJI) announced the results of the newly elected leadership on the 11th of August 2025. The Chapter delegates are gathered at Driefontein Mission for their 10th General Chapter from the 3rd to the 14th of August 2025.

We highly honor and thank the outgoing leadership for what they have done from 2019 to date. Only God can reward them in ways he sees best.

According to the SJI constitution term of office last 6years. A General chapter is a time to review the life of the congregation, see where they are now and pave way forward in view of the science of the times. The ongoing chapter is guided under the theme, “Called to be women rooted in prayer, resilience and to be pilgrims of hope”

The newly elected Superior General is Sr. Theresa Mugwidi followed by the four Councillors, Sr. Alice Chomuyeke former first councillor of the outgoing Council, Sr. Judith Chakabveyo currently working as Programmes officer at Caritas. Sr. Martha Chitevere, a Matron at Musiso Hospital and Sr. Agnes Mutanhaurwa, currently working at Shungu High school as a teacher.

The new leadership team expressed their commitment to continuing the congregation’s work in education, healthcare, pastoral work just to mention some, and community development in Gweru, Masvingo, Harare, Bulawayo, Mozambique and USA.
