Shock as Chipinge man steal 17 goats

Kumdani Clever (43) from Village Vheneka, Chief Garahwa, Chipinge has been arrested for stealing a record 17 goats on June 7.

ZRP Masvingo Province Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that on the morning of June 7 at around 0600 hours, Melody Chiukira (30) of Village Mutero, Chiredzi, and Mukoti Sithole (57) of Arda Tshovani Compound, Chiredzi left their 17 goats, Chiukira to graze unattended on communal land.

Taking advantage of the situation, Kumdani Clever, along with two unidentified accomplices who are still at large, stole all the 17 goats and penned them at Clever’s homestead.

The complainants were tipped off on June 8 that their stolen livestock had been sighted at Clever’s residence.

The following day, they formally reported the case at ZRP Ndali. Police swiftly acted on the information and arrested Clever at his home. During interrogation, he implicated the other two accomplices who are yet to be apprehended.

Police recovered 9 of the 17 stolen goats as well as R10 500 believed to be proceeds from the sale of some of the stolen livestock.
