Senior Magistrate Nago is no more

KWEKWE-Mashonaland Central Provincial Magistrate Florence Nago has died.

Rodrick Mugove Nago her first born son confirmed the death to The Midweek Watch and said his mother had been in and out of hospital for a long time after she suffered a brain tumor in 2023.

She was 50.

“Our mother passed on at Kwekwe Hospital private ward on October 11 and we laid her to rest in Gweru yesterday.

“We have lost a pillar of strength in the family, we will miss her a lot. She suffered a brain tumor in 2023 and was operated on in June and has been in and out of hospital since then and also had a partial stroke this year as well,” said Rodrick.

Nago is from Nago Village under Chief Zimuto in Masvingo District.

She went to Bumburwi Primary and Thornhill High both in Gweru before joining Mutare Teachers College where she trained as a teacher and taught at various schools.

Nago did her law degree and masters with the Midlands State University.

In 2006 she joined the Judicial College and became a magistrate.

Nago worked at Kwekwe, Zaka and Gweru as a senior magistrate before her elevation to Mashonaland Central as the provincial head until the time of her death.

At one time she was the secretary general of Zimbabwe Magistrates Association and is also a philanthropist and cofounder of Kwekwe based Kudakwamwari Foundation which caters for orphaned children.

Nago is survived by two sons, a daughter and one grandchild.

A memorial service for her will be held at house number 1131 Mkoba 3 on January 25, 2025,
