HARARE – The Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa has completed 49 150 housing units, last week’s Cabinet meeting was informed.
Since the inception in 2019 the scheme has seen 49 150 housing units completed, 42 706 houses are still under construction and the servicing of 43 605 stands is still in progress.
According to the statement provided a total of 136 850 stands have been fully serviced.
In the statement, the Government said 3 902 301 jobs were created in the construction sector through servicing of stands, manufacturing of materials, retail and hardware sales since the inception of the National Development Strategy 1(NDS1).
Under the Rural and Social Amenities Programme, the Government is constructing blocks of flats in rural district councils to cater for civil servants that are domiciled in all the provinces and the construction of 400 blocks of flats has started with a pilot project being undertaken in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwa (UMP) in Mashonaland East Province.
