MASVINGO-Ambitious Scotland Football Club, the reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions have unveiled plans to build a world-class football arena and academy in Masvingo City.

According to a letter dated November 20, 2025, addressed to the City of Masvingo and seen by The Midweek Watch, Scottland FC Secretary General Terrence Mutandwa requested support in securing land or an existing facility to develop the project.

The proposed arena will not only be a training base for the club but also host a football academy aimed at nurturing local talent.

“We intend to establish a fully-fledged football academy dedicated exclusively to discovering, nurturing, and developing young football talent from Masvingo,” Mutandwa said.

The academy will offer professional coaching, educational scholarships and employment opportunities for the community.

Talks are ongoing between the club and city officials to cement the partnership and begin implementation.

“This project represents a transformative opportunity for football development in Masvingo, and we believe it will deliver significant benefits to your community:

• Exclusive Local Recruitment: The academy will recruit talented young footballers exclusively from Masvingo, ensuring that local youth are the primary beneficiaries of this initiative.
• World-Class Facilities: We will construct or renovate facilities to international standards, complete with modern changing rooms, medical facilities, quality playing surfaces, and spectator amenities.
• Professional Coaching: The academy will be staffed by some of the best qualified and experienced coaches in the country, providing Masvingo’s youth with training that meets the highest professional standards.
• Educational Scholarships: Talented young players will be awarded scholarships that combine football development with educational opportunities, ensuring their holistic growth as individuals.
• Employment Opportunities: The facility will create jobs for local residents in coaching, administration, maintenance, security, and other support services.

We are flexible in our approach and would welcome the opportunity to discuss either of the following options:

1. Undeveloped Land: Suitable land where we can construct a purpose-built football arena from the ground up, or
2. Existing Facility: A long-term lease arrangement for an existing football arena that we would then develop, renovate, and upgrade to world-class standards at our own expense.
