Sally Kufakunesu’s life was forever changed when she suffered a debilitating stroke five years ago and she had no hope of being able to walk again.

Confined to a wheelchair and reliant on others for even the simplest tasks, she felt trapped in her own body.

Everything changed when she met renowned fitness trainer Sensei Douglas Machingauta aka Sir Doug last year in Botswana where he had gone on a working visit.

With his unique approach, patience, and encouragement, Machingauta helped Kufakunesu regain her strength and mobility through a series of sessions from August to December last year.

According to Masvingo Provincial Medical Director Dr. Amadeus Shamhu, Machingauta has successfully aided numerous people with similar medical conditions through his exercises and compassionate support.

Dr. Shamu said Machingauta is an asset to the province as he has helped many people recover from stroke, reduce weight at very low cost and with using any medication.

He added that resources permitting Machingauta should be assisted to get a permanent place for his sessions and some equipment.

Kufakunesu began to experience a transformation she never thought possible within just two weeks, as Machingauta had promised.

His unorthodox methods, which included singing gospel songs to boost her spirits, proved to be the catalyst for her remarkable recovery.

Machingauta’s simple yet effective exercises improved Kufakunesu’s coordination, enabling her to walk again. Her progress was nothing short of miraculous.

She went from being unable to leave her home without assistance to performing everyday tasks with ease.

Her newfound independence stands as a testament to Douglas’s exceptional training and dedication.

“Kufakunesu’s story is a beacon of hope for those affected by stroke,” said Machingauta.

She credits him with giving her a second chance at life and urges others to seek out trainers like him.

“Recovering from a stroke is a journey that requires patience, love, and unique trainers who can make a difference in your life,” she emphasizes.

With her newfound freedom, Kufakunesu is eager to spread the word about Douglas’s remarkable abilities.
