…as Shine Shine Queens clinch Mayor’s Charity Cup

MASVINGO CITY-An unforgettable moment unfolded at Mucheke Stadium this Sunday, as 11 year old Ropafadzo Chipadza, a Grade 6 pupil at Gaths Mine Primary School in Mashava, stole the show by scoring a crucial equalizer for Shine Shine Queens FC in the Mayor’s Charity Cup clash against Masvingo Queens FC.

Masvingo Queens FC had taken a first half lead and looked set for victory until young Chipadza stunned the crowd with a well placed second half goal that leveled the score line forcing the match into penalties.
In a tense and thrilling shootout, both teams matched each other goal for goal.
But it was Shine Shine Queens’ goalkeeper Nomatter Kwangwari who became the match winner after making a decisive save, securing a 6-5 victory on penalties and lifting the Mayor’s Charity Cup.
The match not only showcased the rising talent in women’s football but also underlined the spirit and resilience of the Shine Shine Queens FC side.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Mayor’s Charity Cup main event between Masvingo United FC and FC Wangu Mazodze was abandoned in the 59th minute after FC Wangu Mazodze players walked off the pitch protesting a red card shown to their stand in captain, Lucky Itimu.
Brandon Mvura, the man in the middle of the park red carded Wangu Mazodze’s Tsikai Elias who was on the bench for unbecoming language.
At the time of the incident, FC Wangu Mazodze were leading 2-1.
