Presidential guard Land Cruiser kills 2 at Chaka Business Centre
-as 7 perish in Kuwadzana kombi accident

National ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that two people were killed while five others were injured when a Toyota Land cruiser vehicle veered off the road and overturned before landing on its wheels at the 225km peg, (Chaka Business Centre) along Harare-Masvingo Road on 30 October 2024 at around 1530 hours.
Although Nyathi did not mention that the Land Cruiser belonged to the Presidential Guard, The Midweek Watch is possession of the pictures and videos of the soldiers being taken to Mvuma Hospital by civilian motorists soon after the accident.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for post mortem while four of the injured were admitted at the same hospital with the other one taken to Harare for further medical attention.
Nyathi said, “ZRP urges motorists to abide by the country’s road rules and regulations in-order to curb road accidents, above all, motorists are implored to avoid speeding on the country’s roads.”
Meanwhile, the Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on October 31, at around 0510 hours along Harare-Bulawayo Road, at Kuwadzana 7 turn off.
Seven people were killed while six others were injured when a Toyota Hiace kombi with yet to be established number of passengers on board collided with a fuel tanker.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
The seven victims’ names have not been made public as their next of kin had not yet been notified by the time of posting the story.
