HARARE-Popular television talk show host Dr Rebecca Chisamba affectionately known as Amai Chisamba by her legion of fans was yesterday conferred with the Honour of the Order of the Star of Zimbabwe, Silver Award by President Mnangagwa.
This was revealed by Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa during the post cabinet briefing.
She said the President honoured Amai Chisamba for her interactive educational work.
“The nation is informed that His Excellency the President conferred the Order of the Star of Zimbabwe award in silver on Dr. Rebbecca Chisamba for sterling work as the iconic host of the Amai Chisamba talk show. Dr. Chisamba has been at the forefront of informing, educating and advising the nation for over two decades. Her shows have broached numerous subjects that the Zimbabwean society at large grapples with including moral decadence and evolving gender roles,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
The Minister added that the Chisamba shows continue to provide space for people to air their views on societal issues.
Adding that “Dr. Chisamba embodies an entrepreneurial spirit worthy of emulation”.
Dr Chisamba, a television personality and social commentator rose to prominence through her popular interactive programmes, ‘Mai Chisamba Show’, broadcast on the national broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
She has 37 years broadcasting experience.
