PLUMTREE-A 35 year old Plumtree man was allegedly assaulted to death by two teenagers after he had failed to deposit R5 to participate in a gambling match.
After allegedly committing the murder, the teenagers covered the body of Trust Ndlovu of Bubu Village under Chief Sikhobokobo with tree branches to conceal the body before fleeing the scene.
Police have now launched a manhunt for Mduduzi Sibanda and the other only identified as Blessing both from Tjidiwe Village, Chief Masendu in Plumtree.
In a police memo in possession of The Midweek Watch the two logged the deceased to death on 1 April 2024.
Police said on the fateful day at around 2000 hours at Tshidiwe business centre the now deceased and the accused persons were part of a gambling team and the deceased refused to pay a gambling fee of R5 to Knoxman Praymore Ndlovu (19).
This did not go down well with the two accused persons who then intervened and shouted to the now deceased person before they dragged him to a secluded place about 30 metres away
The two accused persons pulled a wooden log from the church fence and assaulted the now deceased all over his body until he fell down and became unconscious the accused persons carried the now deceased for about 500 metres from the place where they had assaulted him and they dumped the deceased in busy area in between mopane trees.
The accused persons removed deceased’s black jean trousers and covered the deceased face with it the accused then took mopane twigs and covered the deceased abdomen part
The body Ndlovu was discovered the following day at around 1330 hrs Isolomuzi Moyo 17 who was walking on the path on his way to Tjidiwe business centre and he informed another villager who then informed the police.
The scene was attended by police details from Butshe base and the deceased’s body was checked and found with bruises on the neck and all over the body and it was ferried to Plumtree District Hospital enroute to United Bulawayo Hospital for postmortem.
