One die in accident along Harare-Masvingo Road
A Gweru man lost his life in a tragic road accident, while three others sustained injuries of varying degrees when the Toyota Hilux they were traveling in overturned after hitting a pothole along Harare-Masvingo road.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident that occurred in the evening of April 7, 2024.
According to Insp Mahoko the tragedy struck at the 202-kilometer peg when Manasa Chimbeva (45) who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Hilux motor vehicle hit a pothole.
As a result, Manasa lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn multiple times.
“One person, Peter Chimbeva, aged 37 years of Musungwe Harben Park in Gweru, died on the spot. Three other passengers escaped with varying injuries whilst the driver escaped unhurt,” added Insp Mahoko.
He urged motorist to exercise caution while driving.
“We appeal to motorists to exercise due care, diligence and avoid speeding when driving” he said.
