GWERU–The Midlands Show Society on Saturday announced winners across various exhibitor categories at the 2025 edition of the provincial trade showcase, with Nyaradzo Funeral Services scooping the overall prize.
The competition, which attracted entries from parastatals, government departments, private companies, schools and farmers, recognised exhibitors for innovation, presentation and service delivery.
Midlands provincial affairs secretary for devolution Dr. Edgar Seenza presented the trophies and shields to winners on behalf of the guest of honor Minister Owen Ncube.
In the parastatals and service providers category, Redcliff Municipality emerged winner, while the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority topped the parastatals (authorities) section.
The Department of Immigration came first in the government (others) category, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development clinched top spot among government agriculture departments.
The Rural Electrification Agency won in government utilities, while the National AIDS Council (NAC) came first in health services.
In the industries category, Sino Bricks Company led, with Field Mowers (Husqvarna) taking honours in the commercial small-to-medium category.
The communications award went to NetOne, while Tanganda Tea Company triumphed in food and related product processing.
The Public Service Commission led among commissions, while Mkoba Teachers College topped the colleges and polytechnics category.
Midlands State University (MSU) claimed first place among universities, and the Airforce of Zimbabwe won the uniformed forces section.
In the insurance sector, Nyaradzo Funeral Assurance claimed the top prize, while Allied Timbers excelled in construction.
Seed-Co was recognised as the best in agricultural seeds, and the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) took first in the regulatory authority category.
Other winners included Dibcon in multipurpose, Cecil John Rhodes Primary School in primary schools category and Shurugwi Prisons in home industry.
Monica Bhunu emerged overall winner in the farmers section.
The show’s special awards went to Midlands State University, named Overall Winner in the Government Departments, while Nyaradzo Funeral Services walked away with the Overall Winner in the Private Organisations category.
Midlands Show Society chairperson, Augustine Mupakurirwa hailed the resilience of exhibitors.
“This exhibition has shown that innovation and resilience are alive in the Midlands.
Every exhibitor is a winner in driving the province forward,” he said.
The Show Society marked its centenary this year under the theme “Climate Change Resilience: Smart and Sustainable Futures,” with exhibitions, livestock displays and cultural performances creating a carnival atmosphere.
