MASHAVA-In an electrifying display of skill and determination, Nemanwa Primary School’s football team emerged victorious in the Masvingo NAPH district competition.

The team, representing Nemanwa zone, showcased exceptional talent and teamwork, ultimately claiming the top spot in a thrilling final match. In the group stage, Nemanwa demonstrated impressive form, securing wins against Mushagashe zone (5-0) and Zimuto zone (3-0). Although they faced a setback against the home team, losing 3-1, the team’s resilience earned them a spot in the semi-finals as second-place qualifiers.
The semi-final match against Metro, the urban zone representatives, proved to be a closely contested affair. Nemanwa’s football styles and strategies paid off, as they lectured Metro to a 2-1 win. This victory propelled them into the final, where they faced off against the home team, Gathsmine, in a rematch of their group stage encounter. The final match was a nail-biter, with both teams displaying exceptional skill, talent, and determination. Having lost to Gathsmine in the group stage, Nemanwa was determined to make amends. The match ended goalless after regular time, but Nemanwa’s nerves held strong in the penalty shootout, securing a 3-0 win.
REACTION FROM THE COACHING STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION
Head coach Freddy Mudzviti beamed with pride, said, “Our team’s dedication and perseverance have paid off. We’re thrilled to have won the competition, and I’m proud of each and every player.” Deputy coach and girls coach Felisters Mbewe also expressed pride and admiration for the team’s achievement.

She added, “This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers. We’re proud of our team and look forward to their continued success.” Sports organizer Tafadzwa Kandira echoed similar sentiments, “The team’s performance was outstanding. They’ve shown remarkable improvement and dedication, and this win is a testament to their hard work.” Deputy sports woman Emelda Mawarire added, “The team’s display was impressive, and their teamwork was evident throughout the competition. They’ve set a high standard for future teams.”
SUPPORT FROM TEACHERS SHINES THROUGH
The Nemanwa team received tremendous support from their teachers, Charlote Mugabe, Tawanda Mudzimba, Semilia Chitiga, Kudzai Chivhoko, Jenifar Charutsa, and Tsitsi Mangwana, who created an electric atmosphere during the matches, dancing to the popular “Manhanga Matete” song. Their enthusiasm and encouragement played a significant role in motivating the team to perform at their best.
