CHIREDZI- Memory Mapfungure (15) of Farm 54, Hippo Valley Estates died after being given a concoction by her neighbor, Chipo Mulauzi (45) to terminate a pregnancy.
ZRP Masvingo Province Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the sad incident.
Mulauzi administered the concoction to the teenager on March 1 in an attempt to terminate her pregnancy.
However, the concoction had devastating consequences, and the girl fell severely ill.
She was rushed to Chiredzi General Hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her condition on March 9.
The police were informed about the incident and launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Mulauzi.
The body of the deceased was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem, which was conducted on March 12.
Mulauzi was arrested on March 17 in connection with the girl’s death.
Inspector Dhewa said, “the public must seek medical attention from qualified professionals to avoid such tragic outcomes.”
