Mwenezi CID up for knifing colleague in Karoi

MASVINGO-A member of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer named Simudzirai based in Mwenezi stabbed his colleague to death when the now deceased refrained a fight at Kutepa Ultra City Nite Club in Karoi in the wee hours of April 22.

Simudzirai used an okapi knife to stab Privilege Hove, a police officer stationed at ZRP Karoi Urban who was later reported dead upon admission at Sally Mugabe Hospital around 3pm on the same day.

According to a police memo seen by The Midweek Watch, the accused was drinking beer at Kutepa Ultra City Nite Club when he had a misunderstanding with other patrons who were in the club.

Another police officer who works together with the deceased tried to stop the accused, but he was dragged outside the night club and was hit once on the forehead with a fist.

He fell down and when Hove came to rescue his workmate and refrain the accused from fighting, Simudzirai produced an okapi knife and stabbed the deceased once in the stomach resulting in the intestines hanging out.

Simudzirai disappeared from the scene.

Hove was rushed to Karoi District Hospital where he was transferred to Chinhoyi, then Harare Hospital where he died on admission.

The matter was reported at Karoi Police Station and the accused was arrested at his place of residence.
