MASVINGO-Cainos Muzungu (23) from village Chakauya Chief Murinye was sentenced to 15 years by Masvingo Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura for raping a girl (14).
Liberty Hove prosecuted.
Hove told the court that on the day in question, at around 1740 hours, the complainant was standing outside her parents’ homestead when Muzungu called her over and asked about the whereabouts of her parents.
After learning that the girl’s mother had gone to visit a relative and her father was away at work in a neighbouring village, the accused allegedly asked the complainant to move closer to him.
Muzungu then pushed the girl to the ground and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The matter was later reported to the complainant’s mother, who in turn notified the police leading to the arrest of the accused on May 1, 2026.
