MASVINGO CITY-Twenty five Masvingo based events organisers came together and paid lunch for 13 female inmates at Mucheke Old People’s Home as part of Anglican Church Masvingo Diocese Mothers Union fund raising to buy a vehicle.
The historic Ladies luncheon was held at the Shana Mazorodze run state of the art Urban Lifestyle Hotel in Clipsham and was meant to raise money for the purchase of a vehicle for the Anglican Church Masvingo Diocese Bishop Oziward Mapika’s wife, Jane Mapika.
The fundraising Ladies luncheon was hosted by the Anglican Church Masvingo Diocese Mothers Union for the purchase of a Toyota GD6 for the Bishop’s wife.
The Masvingo Anglican Diocese Bishop Mapika was appointed in November last year.
“We were so excited to host our grannies from Mucheke Old People’s Home at the newly opened spacious hotel. We really wanted them to also have a feel of one of best hotels in Masvingo, instead of just hearing about it, we wanted them to come and have lunch at the place as part of our corporate social investment in the ancient city.
“We also wanted them to spend time away from their usual life at the home which is sometimes boring and monotonous considering their age,” said Rudo ‘Lulu’ Shoko of Lulu’s Events Management.
Lulu also said they decided to help the Mother’s Union by buying tickets for the purchase of the vehicle, but at the same time giving back to the community in which they operate from.
The following are the organisations that made the event possible; Lulu’s Events Management, Blooms Cakes, Creative Catering, Annecress Events, Kus Kus Creations, Blissful Creations, Ginex Events, Wonderous Cakes, Classic Cakes, Pechem Events, Devine Angels, Chihwai Paradise Deco and Mai Gubwe Events.

A number of organisations and individuals who thronged the event pledged money for the purchase of the vehicle for use by the Bishop’s wife.
Lulu added that they would like to host the grannies as often as possible to afford them the much needed relaxation away from the home.
