CHIVI NORTH-Chamasvinga Rural Day Secondary School in Chivi North constituency has received a significant boost with the installation of WiFi facilities on September 23, 2025.
The donation which was sourced by Member of Parliament Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa from his friends including his sibling, Rangarirai Huruba aims to bridge the technology gap and enhance the learning experience for students and staff.
Chamasvinga head, Lorraine Chigombe expressed her heartfelt gratitude to MP Mukungunugwa for his vision as the WiFi will go a long way in enhancing learning and research for both teachers and students at the secondary school which is deep in the rural areas.
“We are very grateful to Chibaba (MP) for the generosity and visionary leadership. Our MP knows that the future of this country is in the hands of the young people and he has taken it upon himself to empower the future generation so that they are not left behind in this age of artificial intelligence. AI is the way to go and it is either we are bystanders or we are the creators, we can’t afford to be bystanders and suffer a second colonization driven by technology from the west,” said Chigombe.
Senior teacher, Addmore Mukamuri noted that the WiFi installation will enable the school to stay abreast of cutting-edge technology in education.
However, the school still faces several challenges, including the need for more classrooms, decent teacher accommodation, textbooks, staff room, and laboratories. The school also requires another water source and irrigation facilities to support its gardening and orchard projects.
Despite these challenges, the WiFi donation is expected to greatly benefit the students and staff, providing them with access to a wealth of educational resources and information. The school’s administration hopes that this gesture will inspire more donors to support their endeavors.
