Chivi–President Mnangagwa is set officially open the rehabilitated Shurugwi –Mhandambwe road on Thursday at Mukandapi Business Centre.
Mukandapi which is in the Midlands Province is 20km from Mandamabwe Business Centre along Shurugwi Road.
The road which is a shorter route between Gweru and Beitbridge was initially a gravel road and was tarred by Gansu a Chinese company in the early 1990s.
After the construction by the Chinese company the road only lasted one single rain season as it was impassable due to sinkholes and uneven surface sometimes with a stretch of a km enduring humps on the 112km stretch.
The Second Republic started the rehabilitation of the important link road from Chivi Beitbridge road turn off to Shurugwi in phases and this is the last leg of the works transforming it into a modern highway.
