Mnangagwa to address star rally in Zaka

MIDWEEK REPORTER

MASVINGO CITY-President Mnangagwa is set to address his first star rally for Masvingo Province in Zaka at Chinorumba Secondary School on July 15 to garner support for the August 23 harmonised elections.

Zanu PF Masvingo Province spokesperson, Pepukai Chiwewe told The Midweek Watch that the party’s first secretary will descend on Zaka as the harmonised elections draw nearer where he will face his main challenger, Citizens Coalition for Change, Nelson Chamisa whom he beat by a wafer-thin margin in the hotly contested 2018 general elections.

The announcement was made on Sunday at Masvingo Poly during the Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting.

“On 15 July His Excellency President E.D. Mnangagwa will be launching his star rally in Zaka District at Chinorumba Secondary School. It will be the mother of all rallies and we expect to mobilise 80 000 registered voters in Zaka District alone.

“As a party we are happy with the progress we have made so far in terms of our campaigns.  People are showing their loyalty to the party and our candidates (Team Zanu PF) which is composed of the President, MPs and councilors.

“We will continue preaching peace during and after elections. Victory is certain but we are not leaving the ground despite our early lead in the local government elections where we were not contested in 94 wards throughout the country,” said Chiwewe.

He also said they have kicked off campaigns as a province for the August 23 harmonised elections and they are happy with the turnout at all their rallies where they are outlining the Second Republic’s achievements.

“We have started our campaigns in the province and all our aspiring candidates were urged to be always on the ground marketing the Party, the President and our achievements as the New Dispensation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vice President Chiwenga will be in the province for rallies in Gutu East on July 10 and Gutu West on August 3 while the party’s other vice president, Kembo Mohadi will be in Masvingo Central on August 12.

Zanu PF national chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri who is also the Minister of Defence and War Veterans will be in Mwenezi West on August 17 for a campaign rally.
