KWEKWE-The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the murder of a 32-year-old woman by her boyfriend over allegations of infidelity.
According to the Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident occurred on February 9, 2025, at around 9:30 pm in Mbizo, Kwekwe.
The victim, Anna Matambo, was allegedly clobbered to death by her boyfriend, Paul Mlambo, with an axe.
The couple had been in a relationship since early 2024, and Mlambo had reportedly been visiting Matambo regularly and accusing her of infidelity.
On the fateful day, Mlambo visited Matambo’s home while her two children were alone, as she was away.
He then ambushed her in a neighboring unfinished house until she arrived.
Mahoko said Mlambo confronted Matambo, accusing her of infidelity, which led to a misunderstanding.
Mlambo then went back to the unfinished house and returned with an axe.
Matambo attempted to flee with her children, but Mlambo chased her down, tripped her down, and struck her three times on the head with the axe, killing her on the spot before fleeing from the scene.
Insp Mahoko urged members of the public who might have information that could lead to the arrest of Mlambo to contact the nearest police station.
