KWEKWE-Relegation battling Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side, Kwekwe Utd FC has announced a new ownership model which sees the community emerging the majority shareholder.
Energy Minister July Moyo has been appointed as the club’s patron while Phil Makekera remains the president.
In a statement, Makekera said the concept is designed to make sure that the club is people driven.
The club has also announced new leadership appointments of three vice presidents with the aim to strengthen the club’s operations.
The three vice presidents are Silobela Member of Parliament Jonah Nyevera, Kwekwe City Council Councillor Solomon Matsa and Kwekwe Businessman Lameck Tarupuwa while Bridgette Mudhosi was appointed as the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“This structure allows the business community to become part of the ownership structure, fostering broad-based support and investment in the club’s future,” reads part of the statement.
Given its current log position, (anchoring the league) standing and performance, the club is facing a tough season and might be at risk of relegation. The club need to regroup and strategies to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.
