Midlands show celebrates innovation

GWERU-The 98th edition of the annual Midlands Show kicked off with a strong emphasis on the power of innovation to drive progress and unity in the country.
Speaking at the official opening, Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare and the show society patron July Moyo, highlighted that this year’s theme, “Strategic Innovation for Economic Growth,” aligns with the rapidly evolving world where innovation is the catalyst for economic development.
Moyo said the transformative power of innovation empowers the workforce, enhances public service, and provides solutions to societal challenges.
“Innovation is the beacon of progress and unity of the community in this fast-paced world,” Moyo said. “It is the driving force behind economic prosperity, job creation, and improved quality of life. It is through strategic innovation that we can not only compete on a global scale but also ensure that our local community thrives and flourishes.”
The former Local Government Minister also emphasized that innovation remains the catalyst for growth and progress as the world modernizes the public sector and develops new industries.
He noted that the Midlands Show serves as a platform to showcase and celebrate the incredible achievements of innovators, entrepreneurs, and businesses.
“We recognize the hard work and dedication of those who strive every day to make a difference. This event is a testament to their efforts and a platform to showcase their contribution,” Moyo added.
Moyo also highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering an environment where innovation can thrive.
He stated that the Second Republic has made strides in investing in education, infrastructure, and technology to ensure the nation has the skills needed to succeed.
Furthermore, Moyo said the government is creating policies that encourage entrepreneurship and support businesses, both big and small.
