MILLICENT HUNGWE
In Village Makechemu under Chief Mupapa, Dumela Muhlava (76) was brutally murdered by her own mentally sick granddaughter, Mollen Livombo (39).
According to Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, ZRP Masvingo Province Spokesperson, Muhlava had visited her granddaughter’s home to assist with yard work with a hoe.
However, in a tragic turn of events, Livombo snatched the hoe from her grandmother and struck her three times on the head, inflicting deep cuts that ultimately led to Muhlava’s death upon admission at Chikombedzi Mission Hospital.
Livombo was promptly arrested, and investigations are ongoing, led by Chikombedzi Police.
Inspector Dhewa took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of seeking medical care for mentally challenged relatives, ensuring they adhere to their medication to prevent such tragic incidents.
