MASVINGO CITY- The City of Masvingo has appointed Simbarashe Wenzesel Mandishona as Director of Housing and Social Services with effect from August 1, 2023.
Mandishona has been acting in that capacity since the retirement of Levison Nzvura in June 2022 whom he had been deputizing since 2011.
Before joining Masvingo City Council he worked for Marondera Municipality in the community services department from 2004 to 2011, Acting Chief Executive Officer Runde Rural District Council from January 2001 to December 2003, Projects and Planning Officer (Runde Rural District Council) from July 1998 to December 2000, Planning Officer, Department of Rural Development Gweru – Midlands Province from July 1995 to June 1998.
Mandishona has vast experience in town planning, housing and estate management after working in various local authorities spearheading development.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Rural and Urban Planning from the University of Zimbabwe, Masters of Science Degree in Strategic Management with Chinhoyi University of Technology and Certificates in Personnel Training and Labour, and Labour Relations.
He was born in 1969 at Morgenster Hospital and did his primary education at Mudhenge School in Chief Charumbira area.
For his secondary education he went to the prestigious Gokomere College up to form 6 before joining UZ for his Degree in Rural and Urban Planning and later CUT for his post graduate Masters Degree.
Mandishona who is staunch Catholic is married to Chengeta and the couple is blessed with 2 girls and one boy.
