SPORTS REPORTER

MBERENGWA – Mberengwa-based Mbesa FC ended the 2023 season on a high after beating neighbours Great Dyke FC 1-0 in the final match of the season.

For Mbesa, it was a revenge mission as they lost in the reverse fixture.

The result saw them finish third on 44 points a point behind second-placed Chachacha FC who suffered a 1-0 loss to Shurugwi FC.

Champions Black Eagles were not in action as they recorded a 3-0 walkover victory over MSU Zvishavane FC.

They finished the league on 51 points and were the only team to clock 50 points in the league.

Shurugwi secured fourth place with Great Dyke FC finishing fifth after their loss. They showed great resilience for a side which was playing in the league for the first time.

They began on a positive note but lost momentum along the way and this saw them slip down the ladder.

MSU Zvishavane FC anchored the table followed by Jemise Academy.
