MBERENGWA- Mberengwa District ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2A teams; Great Dyke FC, Black Eagles FC and Mbesa FC are all in the mix for promotion come end of season as they are doing very well.
Great Dyke FC is topping the table with 13 points followed by Black Eagles FC on 12 and to complete the top three is Mbesa Fc who have amassed 9 points thus far.

Great Dyke FC are not showing any respect despite being in the league for the first time as they are on top of former Division 1 teams like Black Eagles and developmental side Mbesa FC who are trying their luck for the second time running.
“I would like to thank our supporters that are doing a great job. They are rallying behind the team in their numbers even in away games like the recent one in Gweru.
“We were very impressed in our opening game against our fellow brothers Mbesa FC, which we had prepared very hard for and went on to prevail.

“It was an interesting game because everyone wanted to see how the local derby would end. We opened with a bang as we bagged 3 points through Alexander Hall who scored the only goal for the day.
“Our second game was against Somabula Stars Fc as we showed them we are not in D2 to make up the numbers and walloped them by 3 goals to one.
“We were supposed to get more goals but our players underrated our opponents but nevertheless Beckam Shirichena and Louis Nyamadzawo gave us goals on the day.
“There is need to always stay focused and fight hard as our next door brothers at Buchwa FC, Black Eagles are breathing on our neck as they are just a point behind.

“We want to ensure that in 2024 there is a team from Mberengwa District in the Central Region Division 1 League.
“As Great Dyke manager, I would like to thank my executive members especially president Tarisai Shumba, director Samuel Sinarawo, chairman Morris Moyo, vice chairman Nyasha Marufu, secretary Postor Pikanegore for working tirelessly for the team to stay afloat and bring good results.
“I would like to pay tribute to Mr P. Hall for his unwavering support and if only we can get sponsorship or serious well-wishers, we can focus more on making the Serengeto Boys qualify for D1 soccer next season,” said Ashel Gutu.
On the other end Buchwa based Black Eagles aka Gondo Harishari are chanting “we are back to lead again” as they say there were disrupted by COVID-19 but now back in the game.
Wilbert Zveshure, Black Eagles team manager said they only lost the first game against MSU, as they were putting their house together, now they are more focused and mean business as they have gone 4 games without dropping a point.
He added that come end of the season, they will be dancing with the best in Division One.
“I’m hopeful that we will sail through. We also need to work hard to topple Great Dyke FC who are yet to taste defeat in their campaign,” said Zveshure.

Mbesa director, Neviel Zunde Manonose said they are happy as a developmental side and if they could get more funding they would surpass their expectations.
Mbesa FC technical manager, Tinomuonga Machona said the recent performance of The Phambili Boys saying, “After a disappointing show in Buchwa we had a decent show on Sunday.
“The boys responded well to the demands of the technical bench. Our boys dominated the play for the entire 90 minutes. Generally, the boys performed extremely well with Luciano being outstanding in defence.
“He gave his marker torrid moments. The flow of play from the back to the strikers was well executed. We had Nigel the goal keeper marshalling perfectly his box, barking as the last man of defence.
“The boys performed very well and as an institution we are very much happy. We just hope the guys carry the same mindset in our next encounter in Gweru,” he said.
