Masvingo’s Suncoast Smart City launch on Friday

MASVINGO-In a development that is set to completely change the face of the first urban settlement in the country, a Smart City is to be launched on Friday (tomorrow), which is meant to bring leisure, business and home close to each other.

Coincidentally the launch of the housing project which sits on 251 hectares of land is being held in the month that the country attained its hard-fought Independence and from the place where the country derives its name from.

Veteran lawyer and land developer, Tadiosi Muzoroza confirmed the development to The Midweek Watch through an invitation to cover the event.

The historic launch will be attended by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Winston Chitando, Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Daniel Garwe and Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Lovemore Matuke at 2pm on Friday at the Victoria Range Farm mixed use urban development project.

The state-of-the-art housing development project and the first of its kind in Masvingo is being developed by Suncoast Housing Pvt Ltd in conjunction with the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works and the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities.

The massive project which dovetails into the country’s Vision of housing for all by 2030 comprises a 6-hectare town centre, 4-hectare industrial park with an average size of 500 square metres, 7 300 square metres for ECD, primary and secondary school space, four stands for worshipping centres and one multipurpose stand.

There are 20 stands for open space recreation facilities, water reservoirs, fibre internet connection, state of the art roads with spacious space for pedestrians and vehicles.

Forit Construction which is also involved in the widening of Beitbridge Chirundu Highway is already on the ground opening roads, sewer and water reticulation facilities for prospective customers and those who have already purchased stands in the area.
