MASVINGO – Masvingo Teachers College is set to hold its 40th graduation ceremony on July 16, with the event expected to be officiated by the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Frederick Shava.
The milestone graduation ceremony will mark four decades of producing trained teachers who have contributed to Zimbabwe’s education sector.
About 769 graduates from various teacher education programmes are expected to be conferred with qualifications during the ceremony, which will bring together government officials, education stakeholders, college staff, students and their families.
Last year saw 414 students being capped for completing their studies at the institution which started as ZiNTEC.
The institution has played a significant role in training teachers for schools across the country, contributing to the development of Zimbabwe’s education system.
College authorities said preparations for the graduation ceremony are underway, with the event expected to celebrate academic achievement and professional excellence among the graduating students.
Professor Shava is expected to deliver the keynote address, outlining Government’s vision for higher and tertiary education as well as the role of teacher training institutions in national development.
The graduation comes at a time when the education sector is increasingly focusing on innovation, technology and skills development to meet the demands of modern classrooms.
