MASVINGO–Masvingo current HIV prevalence rate is at 12.06% according to the National AIDS Council 2022 statistics made available to The Midweek Watch.
Masvingo NAC provincial manager, Agrippa Zizhou availed the statistics during an interview recently.
“At the moment we still have the official statistics from 2020 and we are yet to review the latest statistics from last and going back,” said Zizhou.
In Masvingo in the year 2020, 131 508 people were accessing antiretroviral therapy, 139 300 were living with HIV, 3 386 people became newly infected with HIV and 22 200 people died from AIDS-related illnesses.
He went on to say that the provincial HIV incidence rate in 2020 was 0.183%.
