Popular stamp maker, Joems Mutiva who stays and operates his ‘business’ from outside a building that houses Shanese Hair Saloon, Bet Africa and Jap Auto Parts along Edison Zvobgo Street has been hit by a car.

The accident happened today (Saturday) at the junction of Edison Zvobgo and Josiah Tongogara Avenue, leaving the glue sniffing talented vagrant lying on the tarmac as he sustained head and leg injuries.

Mutiva was rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he has been detained while receiving treatment.

Scores of well-wishers took turns to visit the popular street man believed from Nerupiri in Gutu District who is arguably the finest stamp maker in the ancient city.

When The Midweek Watch news crew visited him at the male ward he said, his leg is in pain as well as his head which had already been bandaged.

He had his tube of glue and a 5litre containing glue by his bedside a sign that he was coming from collecting his favourite stuff and tools of the trade.

Eyewitnesses of the accident said the man behind the wheels was given a thorough hiding by members of the public as he tried to flee from the scene.

Efforts to get an official comment form Masvingo Province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable.

The Midweek Watch visited Mutiva’s workplace which was deserted with customers going away without being attended to.
