Masvingo designer conquers the country

Harare- A top Masvingo fashion designer, Tendai Leslie Tichaurawa of Leslie Designs is making notable inroads in the fashion world as his company last week bagged the first prize in the National Dress Modelling competition.
The competitions were hosted by Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, who handed over the prizes at a colourful event held at State House.
Leslie Designs which represented Masvingo Province was adjudged the best designer after exhibiting African attires which expressed the diverse and rich cultural Zimbabwean history.
They outclassed other fashion designers from the country’s ten provinces
Adding glamour to Leslie Designs’ outfits, top models, beautiful Natasha Masunda the reigning Miss Culture Masvingo and Stewart Mufunda Mr Polly Masvingo wore the designs at the catwalk leaving the adjudication team with no option but to award team Masvingo the first prize.
The team received a certificate two days and two nights at a hotel in prime resort city of Victoria Fall plus US$250d and 5 metres national cloth material.
The award becomes the second accolade in the company’s drawer cabinet for 2023 after they won the Fashion designer of the year award in the recently held Masvingo Achievement Award.
Founder and managing Director of Leslie Designs, Tichaurawa was up beat on the latest achievement and said the company has set eyes on conquering the global fashion industry.
“As Leslie Designs team we are proud to be representing our province Masvingo it was a great achievement, it shows that we are doing our work from the heart and we are now being recognised
“I believe this award will inspire us to do more and make our clients happy as we make inroads on a global scale,” she said
Leslie Designs has been in the fashion industry for the past seven years and has its roots in neighboring country South Africa where it first made a mark, before relocating to Masvingo three years ago.
