Masvingo City Town planner scoops Zim CEO Network Gold


MASVINGO – The City of Masvingo Town Planner, Panganayi Marange is the Gold winner of the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network outstanding town planner of the year.

The multi award winning Majange, won the Illustrious Building and Construction Captains Awards as a distinguished Town Planner of impeccable professional standards.

The award ceremony was held at Meikles Hotel in Harare where Senator James Makamba was the guest of honour.

Marange said he was excited for the recognition which he believed he attained on merit.

“I’m glad for winning the prestigious accolade at a national level. The moderators were looking at a Town Planner who is promoting the Smart City mantra and of all the Town Planners I am the only one who has mapped our city on Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

“I pioneered the use of GIS in town planning offices in 2015 when I was still with Kariba Town Council and obtained the George Abraham’s Award in 2017. The Zimbabwe CEOs category this year was looking at the council officials who have gone digital in their operations in land administration.

“I submitted our work here at Masvingo City planning office and what I did in Kariba and the trainings I did in sister councils and that resulted in me being accorded the gold medal,” said Marange.

Majange is the George Abraham’s Award (2017), pioneered GIS in town planning departments of the country and all local authorities, facilitated National Water Loss workshop for all local authorities.

He joined Masvingo City Council in 2019 as Town Planner from Kariba Municipality where he had served since 2013.

He was senior Housing Administration Officer for Chegutu Municipality between 2008 and 2012, senior Housing Administrator for Bindura Municipality (2008) and Mudzi Rural District Council Planner(2004-2005).
