Masvingo City ERSL teams marching on

Date:

As the 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) season progresses, Masvingo-based teams are making notable strides, each with its unique narrative after matchday 21.

Masvingo United Football Club are experiencing a resurgence in the 2025 season. With recent victories, including a 2-0 win over Destiny Stars Football Club over the weekend, they have climbed to second place with 45 points, just three points behind league leaders FC Hunters.

Under the guidance of Coach Tonganai Mugeji, they have shown resilience and ambition, aiming to return to the Premier Soccer League.

FC Wangu Mazodze faced challenges in the 2025 season. Despite previous loses, the club recorded consecutive victories that have seen the team garnering 6 points in 2 games.

However, Great Zimbabwe University Football Club has also recorded consecutive defeats that are leading the club towards relegation. Last weekend, they were on a bye. Under head coach George Magariro, the team managed to collect 6 points from 4 games.

Just like GZU Renco Mine Football Club is facing a challenging season, currently positioned at the bottom of the league table.

With only 8 points and a single win, the team is battling to avoid relegation. Efforts are underway to improve performance and secure vital points in the remaining fixtures.

Looking Ahead

As the season continues, Masvingo United FC remain the province’s best hope for promotion, with a strong position in the league standings. FC Wangu Mazodze’s future is uncertain for now while Great Zimbabwe University FC and Renco Mine FC focus on development and survival, respectively.

The coming weeks will be crucial in determining the final outcomes for these teams in the 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season.
