Masvingo City-Masimba Holdings Limited has announced a scheduled controlled blasting exercise near Masvingo Poly from Mucheke Bridge to Rujeko roundabout.
The exercise, set to run from 25th August to 30th September 2025 as part of ongoing road rehabilitation efforts aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of this key international route.
According to a public notice from the company in possession of The Midweek Watch, the blasting will take place between Charumbira Street and the Rujeko roundabout affecting sections between the 0.5km and 1.6km pegs. Each blast may result in road closures lasting up to an hour.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Pangolin and Chimusana and allow extra travel time during the works,” reads part of the notice.
This controlled blasting exercise is aligned to the government’s goal of upgrading and maintaining world-class infrastructure by 2030.
Masvingo–Beitbridge Highway is a critical link and improving this stretch not only boosts road safety but also enhances economic connectivity, especially for regional and cross-border trade.
The progress marks a step forward in closing infrastructure gaps and meeting the national target of a modern, efficient road network by 2030.
