MASVINGO-The ZRP has revealed the names of five of the six people who were killed in a plane crash at Zvamahande in Mashava, Masvingo Province on Friday last week.
ZRP national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the victims were identified as Harpla Singh Randhawa (60) owner of Murowa Diamonds who is of Indian origin as well as mining billionaire magnet and his son Amer Singh Randhawa, George Sibanda (51) who worked at Marowa Diamonds in Mberengwa, Nikhil Mahadik Milind of Murowa Diamonds as well Reginald Muchemwa (38) the pilot.
The plane was a small passenger Cessna 206 aircraft owned by mining house, RioZim which crashed around 8am on its way to Murowa Mine from Harare.
According to some experts who attended the accident scene soon after the plane crash, the plane developed a mechanical fault while in the air as it was making a U-turn following fog detection in the air which made it difficult for the journey to continue.
The Police said investigations are still going on and this may take time before the full report is out.
Asscom Nyathi added that they are working flat out to identify the sixth victim who is believed to have come as a visitor to Zimbabwe.
