Man gets 2 years for stabbing friend with okapi


CHIREDZI- Shephard Takavapasa (26) has been slapped with 2 years in jail by Chiredzi Regional Magistrate, Judith Zuyu after being found guilty of stabbing his friend.

Takavapasa was sentenced to 3 years behind bars, but the Magistrate suspended one year for five years.

It was the state case that on the 8th of November 2023 at around 0730 hrs at Muvenge Village, Takavapasa went to Learnmore Chimbuya’s house and met his mother whom he asked about his friend’s whereabouts. Chimbuya who was asleep woke up and Takavapasa asked to be accompanied to his homestead pretending he had something to discuss with him and he complied.

When they reached the main gate Takavapasa produced an okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed Chimbuya on the left side of the chest and ran away into the mountain. Chimbuya made a police report at Renco ZRP leading to the arrest of Takavapasa.

Although the reason for stabbing his friend was not stated officially in court, Takavapasa said Chimbuya allegedly proposed love to his wife.
