MBERENGWA- A 20-year-old man from Vengai Village under Chief Mataga has been remanded in custody by Magistrate Charity Tonongera for allegedly stabbing a woman who turned down his love proposal.
Tafadzwa Shumba appeared in court on Friday last week facing attempted murder charges and he was remanded to April 3, 2023. It is alleged that Shumba proposed love to Svodai Nekumbe (25) of Mheremhere Village under Chief Chingoma who turned him down. This did not go down well with Shumba who produced an okapi knife and stabbed her once on the head and once on the shoulder.
Prosecutor Ali Mutause told the court that on March 13, 2023 at Musume Business Centre, Shumba proposed love to Nekumbe who turned him down and this irked the accused who went on to produce an okapi knife and stabbed the complainant once on the head and shoulder.
The matter was reported to the police by eye witnesses and Nekumbe was rushed to Musume Hospital for treatment.
