CHIREDZI-As the annual Alick Baba Sharo, Extra Basso Macheso’s annual sabbatical which coincides with President Mnangagwa’s annual leave ends the Sungura Maestro is set to dazzle his legion of Lowveld fans with his hot album “Kupa Kuturika ” which is doing very well in the region.
The album has drawn mixed feelings among sungura die hards as some are saying Extra Basso is now in his twilight stage of his long career but that has not deterred sungura lovers from thronging his live shows which always live up to the billing.
What, with lead dancer MaJuice back from ‘college’ with his nimble footed dances, fans are definitely in for a treat. Ironically this is the same place where Majuice was suspended for indiscipline last year.
Baba Sharo will be performing at Mazisanengere Gardens in Chiredzi next week on Friday 28 February.
Show organiser Five ‘Big Five’ Muchehiwa confirmed the development in an interview with The Midweek Watch.
“We are excited to be hosting the Sungura Maestro here in Chiredzi at Mazisanengere Gardens. We are inviting everyone to come and enjoy themselves as this will be a show of a lifetime as Baba Sharo will be full of energy after coming from the annual sabbatical,” he said.
Muchehiwa said the Sungura maestro is expected to put up a well- choreographed performance that will give his ever -loyal fans a live taste of his latest album and a blend of old songs that gave him.
Surely, music lovers will be left clamouring for more of Macheso’s bass guitar theatrics.
Launched on August 2, 2024 at Alex Sports Club in the capital, Kupa Kuturika features life coaching songs like “Zvichada Hama “,” Hunhu Hwakashata”, “Kuverengera” and ” Kunditaya, a Chewa song that is believed to be currently rocking the street radios of Lilongwe, Malawi.
Baba Sharo is returning to Chiredzi by public demand after his newfangled Kupa Kuturika album lived up to the billing and has received vast airplay on local radio stations and social media.
The organisers have promised safe parking, cold beer and braai as well excellent security for those accompanied by with their loved ones.
