MASVINGO–Masvingo City Junior Councillors for the 2023-2024 term were sworn in last week on Friday at the Civic Center Hall.
Mayor Advocate Collen Maboke who is also running as an independent candidate for Masvingo Urban Constituency congratulated the incoming Junior councillors and the outgoing team for doing exceptionally well during their term of office.
“I want to congratulate the incoming Junior Councillors and wish them the best in their endevours during their term of office and also to encourage them to continue with their academic studies because despite being office holders there is life after council.
“For the outgoing councillors I want to acknowledge your efforts in implementing your activities during your term of office and I urge all of you to continue with the exemplary behaviour out there as you go into the world,” said Maboke.
The incoming Junior Mayor Anesu Ruzive from Ndarama High School in her acceptance speech said the newly elected Junior Council will carry forward the programs that were started by the previous councillors.
“I want to congratulate the newly elected junior councillors for making it in the council. I want to inform the outgoing council that we are going take over the programs that you started and continue being the voice of every child in Masvingo City especially on the issues to do with child marriages and drug and substance abuse so that we mitigate the scourge by all the possible ways,” said Ruzive.
Prince Shuro, the outgoing Junior Mayor encouraged the incoming council to carry on from the last council to upgrade and advocate for the girl and boy child in Masvingo.
Anesu Ruzive from Ndarama High School was elected Junior Mayor deputized by Kudzai Muziri from Shingirirai College, Prince Shayanowako from Masvingo Christian College is the Town Clerk, Prince Tarirana from Ndarama High School is the Chamber Secretary, Natasha Mazumba from Ndarama High School is the Director Engineering Services, Mitchell Vakira from Masvingo Christian College is the Finance Director, Tracy Ngonidzashe from Masvingo Day Secondary School is the Director Health and Environmental Services, Tapiwa M Chuma from Ndarama High School is the Director Housing and Social Services, Bianca Mandhlkuwa from Ndarama High School is the Public Relations Officer, Winnet Zhou from Masvingo Day Secondary School is the Chairperson Finance and General Purposes Committee, Lenon Muzondo from Victoria High School is the Chairperson Human Resources, Praise Bvunde from Mucheke High School is the Chief Internal Auditor, Vimbai Chinhongo from Victoria High School is the Chairperson Audit Committe, Nokutenda Nyoni from Rujeko Secondary is the Chairperson Health Housing Committee and Prosper Dzinovatonga from Ndarama High School is the Chairperson Public Works Committee.
